A seed was there 400 years ago that grew into the tree. It sucks up water from the water table. any other questions?

it says its really high in altitude. if it did get it from the water table, scientists would probably know.

my wild guesses is capilliary motion of water from sea level getting pulled up, or really long roots

1. it is near the mountains
2. they do know, it's just said that they don't to keep tourism up, like the "Mystery Spot" tourist traps found all over the USA

It's in the desert, no water underneath...

it says on the mesquite page the taproot can be up to 200 feet long, plus the tree can also take up moisture from higher up due to rainfall. Given the highest point in Bahrain is about 400 m above sea level, and this tree is over a mile from that point, I'd think there's a really good chance it could take up from the water table.
