Default criminal record & the army

It seems that the majority of you I've seen posting on here have been Marines. Maybe you can help me anyway.

I joined the army, I'm supposed to ship out to Ft Jackson tomorrow.. well my shipdate is being pushed back now.. maybe I won't go at all..

I didn't disclose one time I got arrested in 2005 because I was booked and released and never heard anything about it and when I tried to look up my criminal record on the internet, there was nothing. So I figured it didn't matter. Especially since I've never been in any sort of trouble before or after this incident.

Wellll, the army's background check found that there was SOMETHING.. my recruiter took me all over the place to get some sort of documentation on this, the police dept I was taken to, two different court houses, they have nothing on me.. the only place that has something on me is some Narcotics Task Force... ugh.. I just signed a release form today so the army can have my records and basically I'm just gonna have to wait and see if I'm still gonna be allowed to ship

Im going freakin crazy with worry. My recruiter is completely useless, any questions I ask him regarding this he answers vaguely.. I just wanna know what the probability of me not being able to ship at all is.. should I start looking for another job.. ?

Basically I have a count of possession, & intent to distribute.. in 2005 my house got raided, at the time me & my bf sold ecstasy.. stupid stupid stupid. Anyway. We were both booked and released... charged but never convicted..

also I don't remember exactly what happened that night, I dont know if I admitted that I was in on this, or if we just said it was all my bf's... but I wrote a statement for the army saying I had no idea there were drugs in my house at all.. I don't know if this will bite me in the ass.. my recruiter told me to say that. Sigh

I'm sure I could have written this a lot better but I am too stressed out to fuckin bother. I really wanna get out of here! Thanks for any reply.

Should have disclosed that shit verbally to your recruiter before you signed the papers, he might have been a little more helpful. There's a decent chance you'll get an ineligible for service, mostly because you DIDN'T put the shit on the paper. If there was ever any paper work from the police, you needed to disclose that.

Honestly, it's really up to head honchos weather or not you get in, and I don't think anyone on totse can help you out.

One possibility is that you'll still be able to enlist, but your selection of jobs will be limited to those not requiring a security clearance. A similar thing happenned to one of my buddies in Basic Training. He had wanted to enlist as a 25B (IT specialist), but a felony marijuana conviction prevented him from getting any clearances, so he had to enlist as a 25L (Cabling specialist), which doesn't require any clearance. So, I don't know if you've shipped or not by now, but you may still be good to enlist; however, your MOS options may be limited to things like 25L, 88M, 11B, etc.

You have a pretty good chance of shit just blowing over. you have to be convicted of something to fuck you up when you enlist. If the regular army doesnt take you, go with the national guard. we have a more relaxed policy when it comes to that stuff.

Don't forget 13B's. Hehehe, 90% of Artillerymen are either criminals or retards.

OP, there was a guy in my basic that was in the same position that you were in. What they did to him was ban him from joining any of the services for 6 months.

If they do that to you, I would do alot of hard thinking during those 6 months. Just ask yourself: Do you like putting up with mass amounts of bullshit daily?

Im sort of in the same predicament.I have 2 or 3 possesion of marijuana charges in 1 county, and 1 in another county. The county that i have only 1 charge in,publicly releases records. The county which has the 2 or 3 charges doesn't publicly release, and its kind of far. Here in about an hour I have to drive out to that county with my recruiter, and hope that they will release my records. If not I basically have to write a paper GUESSING how many and what charges I had (they all happened when I was just turning 18,im now almost 22).I cant quite remember exactly what charges they were, and it's kind of scary.I don't want the military to think im lying about anything because Im not,I just cannot remember for the life of me how many/what exactly were the charges.Lets just hope all goes well.

I am also army, and if it all goes well today i stay tonight in the hotel.Best of luck, let us know how it goes and i will do the same!

Well everything ended up fine.. they did end up finding out about it but I got a waiver for it and everything is cool.. I just got to AIT.

If anyone has any questions about it I can explain what happened more thoroughly...

one thing I've noticed is that it's hard to fuck up here. There are so many people that do all sorts of stupid shit and they don't get kicked out. Seems like the army'll take anyone :/
