Default What am I doing? Please help me figure out what I'm feeling.

I can do something very weird with my body/mind, and have been able to do so since I was a child. When I was a child it would happen randomly, and I would think oh cool, but now I have learned to control it to the point where I can do it any time I desire.

Now let me describe the feeling as best as I can, although it is hard to describe. I can do something where it feels like I am omitting waves or a sort of spirit from within my body (I'm just saying that's what it feels like, not what I think it is). It is definitely physical, I can feel it throughout my head and all my extremities. I can only do it in short bursts lasting in 1 or 2 seconds. I must keep my body pretty still for this to be able to occur. Closing my eyes helps it become more powerful, but it is possible while keeping my eyes open.

Give me your advice on what you think it is. Can it be as simple as me forcing specific neurotransmitters to become active with a neuron? Or something completely different.

Thanks.

I do it too.

When I do it, the back of my neck, eye sockets, and lower back all tense.

Why would you think its spiritual?

I never said I think it's spiritual, I just used that as an example to show how it felt.

Has it actually done anything useful for you, or is it just a strange thing you can do?

Have you tried projecting the feeling onto other things? People? Places?

I know exactly what your talking about.

Here is my theory:
Massless all-pervading energy.
They're like waves of ætherspace that can be bonded with by directing consciousness. These æther waves are really just another aspect of yourself, intertwined and connected to everything else. It's all one eternal ætheric ocean interacting with itself.

Wow, sounds very interesting. Is there another name which it might be known as? I typed it in good and wikipedia and I couldn't find anything :\

Care to explain a bit more?

Thanks though.

I also know exactly where your coming from. I've been doing this for a while, but I can keep the flow of energy going for quite some time. I also feel quite drained afterwards.

It reminded me of the feelings I had in meditation. Though I'm not sure if I'm crazy or not.

i think that means absolutley nothing. Iv been doing that forever, usually feel it in my legs (somewhat like growing pain). I can focus it to any part of my body now. Its nothing special, you arent little boodah or anything.

Simple, you're imagining it. All right what I mean is, your mind can create, uh, feelings. For example, when you dream you can feel all sorts of crazy stuff, but it's not really happening. Well, you can do it when you're awake too. There's no evidence that it's anything more than you're mind creating these feelings. If you have some interesting experiences with this and it seems like they're having effects on objects, then go ahead and investigate it, but I'm highly skeptical that it isn't what I said.

I can do it in greater intensities if I've been meditating, and yeah, i feel pretty exhausted afterwards.

I've done some small experiments, and I have noticed that I'm phenominally stronger when doing it. I can lift and move objects that I'm physically not able to lift otherwise. Granted, it's only twenty or thirty pounds more strength, but I'm sure you could probably increase it over time, or focus it more. I gain more control over it everytime I use it.

I've also been able to increase the intensity with a couple of visualization techniques.

While I have a personal belief that it may be the ocean of energy you described, I've also theorized that perhaps your're accessing your adrenal glands or other hormone/chemical when you do this? I wish ArmsMerchant or another expert on these matters could shed some light...I find this very fascinating.

Edit: In small amounts, it makes me feel energized and extremely alert and focused. Sorry, just more input.

Yeah, I agree, except I have tried projecting it out, kinda just conciously thinking aout it traveling from my fingertips, and as soon as it gets just a foot or two away, I feel really drained and I can't maintain that flow for long. Of course, this could be my imagination, but I don't know. I'm doing some more experiments with this, to see what effects it can have. I've already noted strength and stamina being extended by this, I'll post after I try some more things.

Still wish Arms or Slave could pass on some possible knowledge?

Try getting it to flow from yr forehead, around yr body, into yr feet, threw yr body, and back out yr forehead. Try to keep it flowing.

Of course, this could be my imagination, but I don't know.
It is yr imagination, I am sure of this, an amazing thing imagination is.

Have fun :)

Is there a hint of sarcasm in there? In any case I should never have given those pictures of my ass for you to psychically butt-read, because now you seem able to predict which threads I'm going to post in. :D

I think I recognise what the OP is talking about. I've done something similar by closing my eyes and focusing my mind on myself, or should I say on itself. The result is a rapidly rising tension in the head, spine and groin, which eventually results in a spasm similar to a hypnagogic jerk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnic_jerk) all the way down the spine. The intensity, if you focus hard enough, is broadly equivalent to orgasm whilst holding your breath, only shorter lived.

This certainly suggests to me that something physiologically interesting is happening (I'll have to do some research, don't have time at the moment unfortunately). Of course if you want to believe that 'psychic waves are vibrating through the of ætherspace' then that's up to you.

Give me your advice on what you think it is. Can it be as simple as me forcing specific neurotransmitters to become active with a neuron? Or something completely different.

Thanks.

Good 'ol Deepak Chopra has postulated that within us is the ability to heal any disease, by taking conscious control of our biochemical pathways. Personally I think the guy is little better than a snake oil seller, but I think he may be on to something in a broad kind of way.

Take andrenaline for example, we know this is produced in high-stress situations and is the primary hormone in the flight-or-fight response. We also know we can mentally force its production, we do this every time we have a nightmare and we wake up with our hearts racing - even though the danger is purely imaginery, or when an athelete 'psychs' himself before going for that 400 pound deadlift.

It is not such a huge leap of faith to think that other, more complex and interesting, chemical cocktails may be produced via visualization or meditation which translate into genuine physical responses in terms of respiration, immune system strength, mental acuity, stress hormone levels, etc... thereby possibly improving general health in the long term.

I just don't think we're evolved to anywhere near the level whereby we can instruct the bodies killer T cells (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cytotoxic_T_cell) " Time to start destroying that big lump of cancer in our liver", or destroying the cancerous cells by mentally altering the levels of apoptosis. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apoptosis)

when I do what I think the Op describes, which sounds exactly the same as the feeling I initiate during the beginning of my meditation upon exhales. I can maintain steady but I find it draining and to forced to be benifical for me. (ie. focusing on the body rather then the mind)

In all realness the feeling IMO prolly relates the ATP(Adenosine triphosphate) and ADP (Adenosine diphosphate) levals within the muscles coming to the terms with the passivly forced relaxed state.

Ahh yes, I feel we have bonded quite deeply during those few magickal nights spent evoking the pattern which underlies all that you have done and shall become. This connection will be there forever and always, the bond weakens with time, but indefinitely a speck of this interaction between our signatures will remain.

I think I recognise what the OP is talking about. I've done something similar by closing my eyes and focusing my mind on myself, or should I say on itself. Because your entire body (and beyond), is yourself, AKA your mind?
The result is a rapidly rising tension in the head, spine and groin, which eventually results in a spasm similar to a hypnagogic jerk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnic_jerk) all the way down the spine.
Interesting, so your making your body go to sleep while focusing your mind.
The intensity, if you focus hard enough, is broadly equivalent to orgasm whilst holding your breath, only shorter lived. Sounds dangerous

But Slave, when will you see! These physical results are but the means through which the aetherspace exerts its will. If you look at it in the angle of the holographic universe where every component of the universe reflects, and in some sense, includes the universe as a whole. Then you will see that aether (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aether_%28classical_element%29) (idea, mind, imagination) is the original sensory organ. Or as the Greeks so poetically put it, Æther (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aether_%28mythology%29) “is one of the … first-born elemental gods”. That is why I use the term Ætherspace, because it is a much more accurate way to describe what I am talking about.

Solid
Liquid

What contains all and from whence does all come from?
Why the Eternal Quantum Vacuum of course.

(Infinite Eternal Ætherspace)
(I’ll clarify further if someone wants me to, but I think I made my point)

If we explore the power of the mind, an expedition to the frontier of reality, form a Science of the Mind and train our children to unlock this potential.
Imagine to where this could evolve, ever read Dune?

Default Re: What am I doing? Please help me figure out what I'm feeling.

Update:
I have definately gained a lot more control over this, whatever it is. I have ruled out that it is adrenaline though, as the feelings are profoundly different, in addition to the fact that my heart rate only increases about 15 BPM, as opposed to much more than that when I'm flooded with adrenaline. It could still be chemicals and hormones, though I'm starting to lean away from that after reading more and more into this. I can maintain a steady but low current throughout my body almost constantly without strain or exhaustion, as well as feeling more and more of the energy everytime I max out on it. Some experiments I hope to carry out next week:
1.) Measure of increased strength and speed.

and

2.) Healing myself.

I've tried projecting this energy on objects, but can still only get it a few inches from my fingertips, and any attempts at pushing or moving an object exhausts me completely.

I do, however, feel extremely confident and powerful all the damn time now. I interact with people much differently, but in a good way.

EDIT: I'd like to see if crystals can multiply this energy, anyone else think that it could?
