Default Ghost Shows

there was a thread on it earlier i think, but i cant seem to find it.
Anyway has anyone seen "Ghost Hunter" (aka taps or some shit) these guys seem to believe in ghosts, but they always have a logical or scientific explanation for everything that happens, even if it clearly was a ghost or spirit or whatever you like to call them.

Thoughts?

If it was clearly a ghost/spirit/etc, then they wouldn't have an explanation for it using 'logical' scientific means.

I don't watch it much.
But I saw one episode where they caught on the infrared camera a human head and shoulder form peak around the corner for about a second. They had no explanation. During the same episode a loud canon ball like explosion went off that could be heard by people on the other side of the building. They said the house was definitely haunted.

People will still choose to deny strange energy phenomena occur, (ie. UFOs, Ghosts, Vacuum domains, ESP) similar to how people over a century ago would completley deny the affects of hypnosis. Patients would go into surgery with no anesthesia and not display any pain at all, yet the skeptics would sneer, "ARrr! He's faking it."

IMHO, the so-called ghost shows are like the other "reality" shows in that they are scripted, special effects and all.

^This.

And I think it's sad that people would rather watch a "ghost" show than say Cosmos-Carl Sagan or NOVA Origins-Neil DeGrasse Tyson.

I'd really rather not have any more close encounters with those type of things anyways, but some people are just addicted to them. So at least they can suffer their needs with an idiot box! I think it is, if nothing else, much more kind to any spirits that might have to deal with them otherwise. :D

the worst thing ive ever seen related to ghosts is this new piece of shit, "psychic children". I dont understand how someone could watch it and not immediately see the scripted movie-like occurences that happen exactly as the viewer wants. At least these other shows sometimes find nothing and leave that bit of believability, but psychic children just insults my intelligence.

I agree the shows are totally scripted and a waste of time. Like horror movie light or something.. But still if you see things that just seems wierd.. you gotta wonder.

I should make a thread about this.

I saw a commercial for this and I feel terrible for the kids. We should be teaching children science and mathematics, and not how to hunt for ghosts.

To be honest, the taps HQ is right down the street from my house considering they are hosted here out of Warwick Rhode Island. I went to school with guys daughter, but never really talked to her about it considering everyone else did, so i'm sure she didn't want to hear it. As for my opinion of the show, it's pretty much the same for any other type of reality television. Whether it's some bullshit rock of love game show, or even Ice Road Truckers they have on the discovery channel. Everyone needs to keep their ratings up, so they are gonna do what they have to do to maintain them. Regardless of whether they've altered the truth or not.
